Making of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Regulations 2024

The Governor in Council has today made the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Regulations 2024 (WIRC Regulations). These new regulations will commence on Sunday 26 May 2024.
The WIRC Regulations will replace the existing Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Regulations 2014.
Changes incorporated into WIRC Regulations
The following key changes have been incorporated into the WIRC Regulations:
- the percentages deemed not remuneration for specific classes of contractors have been refined
- the statement of identity and medical certificate forms for injured workers living overseas have been updated and will be made available on WorkSafe’s website
- from January 1 2025 a simplified formula will be used to calculate self-insurer contributions, and the current discount on common costs will be removed from the formula.
