WorkSafe Announces CEO Colin Radford's Resignation

Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to let you know that our CEO Colin Radford has resigned.
After four very demanding years, Colin is keen to take a break with family, rest and recharge his batteries. Colin led WorkSafe during one of the most challenging periods in the scheme’s history, including steering us through the COVID pandemic, ensuring our own people and Victorian workplaces were as safe as possible given the extraordinary circumstances.
Colin’s leadership and deep understanding of the scheme has laid the foundations for the reforms required to ensure WorkSafe is fit for purpose and sustainable into the future.
On your behalf, I want to sincerely thank Colin for his outstanding leadership, his deep commitment to safe workplaces and decency for injured workers, and his passionate advocacy for the people who work for our organisation.
I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our Interim CEO, Joe Calafiore, who is well known to many as the previous CEO of the Transport Accident Commission.
Joe comes to us with 15 years’ experience in social insurance and regulation, and the Board is very confident that he is the right person to lead us through the next stage of Government reforms to the scheme while we go through the process of appointing a new CEO. Joe has also worked closely with many of our Executives and we know that his knowledge and experience will ensure that WorkSafe will continue to deliver on its purpose during this interim period.
Joe will be on deck from today and will spend the next few days with Colin and the ELT on a handover.
Staff will have an event later this week to farewell Colin and welcome Joe, and the Board will shortly commence a comprehensive search for a new CEO.
Again, I want to express the Board’s sincerest thanks to Colin for his dedication over the last four years, and I know you will join me in wishing him all the best for his break and his next endeavours.
