Self Insurers Conference 2025 

The Self Insurers Association of Victoria (SIAV) is excited to announce the Self Insurers Conference 2025, themed Creating Connections.

Join us on Thursday, 8 May 2025, at the Sofitel Melbourne for this highly anticipated event.

The SIAV is thrilled to host another dynamic conference aimed at bringing together industry leaders and professionals from across the self-insurance sector. The event will provide a platform to share insights and best practices in workplace health and safety, return to work, rehabilitation, and claims management.

This full-day conference proudly supported by WorkSafe Victoria once again will feature plenary sessions with high-profile speakers, specialised sessions covering key topics like health and safety, return to work, claims management, and wellbeing. Additionally, we’ll have exhibition booths, exciting giveaways, and a networking function to wrap up the day.

 

We are thrilled to announce our incredible lineup of keynote speakers for the Self Insurers Conference 2025:

• Darren Flanagan – Beaconsfield Mine Rescue Hero
  Known for his extraordinary efforts during the Beaconsfield gold mine collapse, Darren Flanagan will share his heroic story of resilience and bravery. During the disaster, Darren operated over 70 explosives in a continuous 30-hour stretch deep underground, helping to rescue two men trapped nearly 1 km below the surface. His story of courage and determination is sure to inspire.

• Danielle Casamento – Actuary at Finity
  Danielle will present on the current state of self-insurance and offer her expert insights into where the industry is headed. As a key figure in the actuarial community, Danielle’s presentation will provide a forward-looking view of the future of self-insurance.

• Anna Feringa – International Speaker & Workplace Mental Health Consultant
  Anna is celebrated for her expertise in psychosocial health & safety, leadership development, and injury management. She will bring her vast knowledge on workplace mental health and the importance of fostering a safe and supportive environment for all employees.

• Mary Coustas – Australian Actress & Comedian
  To close our day, we’ll hear from Mary Coustas, a well-loved figure in the Australian entertainment scene. For over three decades, Mary has inspired and entertained top corporate, financial, political, sporting, and cultural communities with her warmth, humour, and invaluable life lessons.

The day will be expertly chaired by Sam Riches, renowned Australian TV Presenter and Event Host, who will guide us through the engaging sessions.
