The SIAV is excited to facilitate the reuniting of the self insurance industry from far and wide to discuss best practice in workplace health and safety, return to work and rehabilitation.

Join us for a full day event being held at the luxurious W Hotel in Melbourne.  The day will include a keynote presentation by Sam Bloom.  Sam is a 2 x World Para Surfing Champion, bestselling author and the inspiration behind the Australian box-office hit and global Netflix sensation Penguin Bloom.  Sam will be joining us to talk about moving past injury.  Her story of inspiration and hope will lift attendees and demonstrate what can be done when the mind is willing.

After morning tea, we will be breaking into two stream sessions that will give attendees a variety of topics to choose from.  Sessions include Claims Management, Managing Injuries, Occupational Health and Safety, and Well-being.

In Stream 1, we will here from Joel Fuller from HSI/Solv Group, John Deane from Gallagher Bassett talking trends in claims management and Calum Brenan of AON updating us on the excess of loss and bank guarantee markets.  

Meanwhile, Stream 2 you will be presented by WorkSafe Victoria on Manual Handling topics, followed by a discussion on the very important topic of the psychological health regulations by Jason Van Schie of FlourishDX. This OH&S stream will conclude with Luke Holland from Sparke Helmore Lawyers discussing the criminalisation of work health and safety laws, how did we get here and what is next. 

After a long lunch and networking opportunities the conference will again conclude its final streams on Managing Injuries and Well-being. Stream 3 will be an interactive session with Ben Sheat from Reality Health on rethinking modern pain treatments. Meanwhile, Stream 4 will be presented by Sonder and followed by a panel discussion on well-being in the workplace. 

The final session for the afternoon will focus on mental health claims with presentations by Dr Mary Wyatt on the "Pays to Care" study and the industry leader David Burroughs from Australian Psychological Services talking about the evolution of workplace mental health, from awareness to genuine early intervention and prevention. Sue Freeman from Finity will be looking at the trends in Psych claims and the afternoon will conclude with a psych panel giving members an opportunity to ask questions of our panel of experts.

The day will be chaired by Maritza Barone, MC, Producer, Well-being and Mindset presenter.  Her well-being podcast, 'Things You Can't Un-Hear' regularly features in the TOP 50 self-improvement podcasts in Australia
